Virgin territory

I am under no illusions. I am well aware my audience consists of one or two well-intentioned friends and perhaps a couple of confused internet stragglers.

No doubt this blog will emerge as a largely incoherent smattering of self-indulgent musings and oddball rants. I imagine it'll showcase a few of my cringe-worthy attempts at creativity and allow me to rationalise my opinions in an open forum.

You can expect commentary on everything from social justice and religion, to pop culture and stand-up comedy.

With that in mind, an introduction seems pretty redundant. But then I never could turn down an opportunity to talk about myself.

I am a 21-year-old male journalist who lives in the land of sheep and hobbits - New Zealand.

I am pro-choice, but anti-abortion. I support gay marriage. I strongly oppose the death penalty. I'm pretty centrist on most issues, but I wish I was more liberal. I don't believe in the colour pink.

I believe in God. I think. I describe myself as a Christian agnostic.

At various stages of my childhood, I wanted to "grow up" to become a famous actor, a famous writer, a famous film director, a famous inventor or the Prime Minister. I even briefly contemplated becoming Catholic just so I could become the Pope.

As a child I talked to myself. I created elaborate worlds for imaginary tales to play out. I learned to love the stage. I smashed the school's scanner with a chair leg and broke the wall heater by standing on it. In case you have visions of me as a crazy ADHD school child, I was also a librarian. Life of the party.
